Why Invisalign is Different

One of the main questions we field from our customers is “what is Invisalign and why is it different”?

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a newer technology that rivals braces. It is a clear plastic retainer, which slowly guides the teeth into place. Over time, you cycle through several retainers which gradually shape your teeth to be straight.

It was released for customer usage in early 2000, and has been gaining in popularity ever since. The goal of Invisalign Las Vegas treatment is to straighten your teeth, which leads to a better smile and overall improved oral health.

Why is it Different?

There are several key differences in using Invisalign to straighten teeth vs. traditional braces. In this blog post we’ll discuss some of those differences:

Braces & Invisalign can cost roughly the same if getting full mouth treatment. However, if you are not getting all your teeth aligned, or your teeth aren’t that out of place. braces can end up costing less.

Dental Visits

Braces require you to visit about once per month for tigthening and adjustments. Invisalign requires visits about every 4 – 6 weeks.

Braces work best for more complex teeth alignment issues. As they are in your mouth 24/7 there is also more regular usage of them. Invisalign does well on most teeth misalignments, but is not recommended for very complex issues. Also, some customers tend to forget to wear their Invisalign sometimes which can lengthen treatment.

By far, Invisalign is much easier to clean. Braces may require a water pick to clean between gaps. As Invisalign is removable, all you have to do is remove it and rinse them in luke warm water.

Treatment Time

Braces are work for an average of 2 years. Invisalign is worn for about 6 – 18 months depending on the severity of your teeth misalignment, and your regular usage of the product. You are expected to wear Invisalign all day. If not, it will take longer to work.

In Summary

It’s hard to to wrong with either choice, however there are some clear advantages for Invisalign in terms of apperance and cleaning. However, it does require that you be diligent in removing them before you eat, and making you properly wear them regularly.

Braces are also a better option for people with bridgework, back tooth biting issues, or for people with a lack of discipline, as they do not require regularly removing them and placing them back.
